Columns [+] Plus is most productive when used with gage fixtures, where the part is supported in a nest and multiple dimensions are collected. LVDT probes, digital probes, digital indicators, or analog devices can be used for dimensional measurement. LVDT and digital probe signals are brought into the computer through data acquisition cards installed in the computer’s PCI slot. Digital indicator readings are collected through a gage multiplex device plugged into the computer’s serial port. Other devices with serial output are also supported. Keyboard entered data is another data entry option.

    Although Columns [+] Plus is designed to function with gage fixtures, it is easily adapted to individual readings from micrometers, calipers, height gages, scales, etc. The part setup procedures are all menu driven and extremely easy to program. Once created, these setups are selected by the operator from a convenient operator schedule screen.

    During data collection, X-Bar & R charts can be viewed by the operator. Other SPC features are included for use at the point of data collection as well as later by the quality control people for more detailed analysis.

    Along with the dimensional data, Columns [+] Plus stores process related information such as operator name, shift, machine no., cavity no., etc. You can create as many "tags" as you wish and record up to twenty (20) with each part. You can "stamp" them with names from a list or type in numbers and words. Auto-advancing stamps or auto-incrementing numbers can also be specified. The tag stamps are logged with the data for future reference.

    Another plus for Columns [+] Plus is its ability to create export templates, formatted to fit other software databases. Data can be exported as an ASCII text data file, either on manual command or automatically when logged.
